Happy Days is a masterpiece of Samuel Beckett, arguably one of the greatest stars in contemporary theater and still at the forefront of avant-garde arts today. Since originally premiering in 1961, the play has been restaged in many different productions around the world and is still performed today. Now ARICA, too, rises to the challenge of this monumental theater piece..

The company invited Kaneuji Teppei, a rising star in the contemporary arts scene in recent years, and Itoken, a talented musician known for both sharp and uplifting tunes, to join the production. Counterpart to Ando Tomoko’s Winnie, the husband is played by yet another musician, Fukuoka Yutaka. Beckett’s text was newly translated by Kuraishi Shino, poet and critic who writes original plays for all of ARICA’s product
